York Knights to rest players for cup game ahead of Workington Town test

York City Knights are set to rest several players for their Northern Rail Cup tie tonight as they keep one eye on Sunday’s league game with Workington.
The Knights will be Town’s first visitors in Championship One this season, when they head to Derwent Park on Sunday, ko 3pm – but first they must dispose of London Skolars tonight in their final cup group game.
Caretaker coach Chris Thorman will not play tonight, the half-back picked up a groin strain in the Challenge Cup victory over Gateshead last weekend but he believes he will be fit to face Town.
Full-back Danny Ratcliffe is also out, with an injured knee but should also be ready to make the trip to West Cumbria.
Thorman is resting captain Richard Blakeway, second-rows Danny Hill and Chris Clough, outside-backs Wayne Reittie and Mike Mitchell, and prop Brett Waller, as he hopes to field a full strength side against Town.
He is relying on utilising his fringe players against the Skolars, where a win would put his side into the Northern Rail Cup quarter-finals.
