McGovern set to make third Rochdale debut against Workington Town

Rochdale Hornets new signing Liam McGovern is set to make his third debut for the club against Workington Town on Sunday.
The half-back has rejoined the Hornets for a third time in his career last week but was unable to play in Friday night’s league clash at Blackpool as his registration was not completed on time.
McGovern, a former St Helens Academy player, has joined the Hornets after a spell with Waterloo RU and his new coach John Stankevitch is confident he will add an extra element to the side.
This is a bonus to the Hornets outfit who have lost stand-off and assistant coach Chris Hough, for six weeks with a torn quad muscle.
Town boss Gary Charlton is certainly not writing the Hornets off for Sunday’s clash at Spotland, ko 3pm, despite them having put their squad together at the last minute.
He added: “Rochdale did have to put a squad together at a later stage but John Stankevitch will still have them well prepared.
“We have to look after what we do well and go there with the right attitude.”
Brett Carter and Jarrad Stack were the only two injury worries for Town from the weekend. Carter took a bang to his shoulder in a tackle whilst Stack took another knock on his dead leg.
“Jarrad took a bang but he put his hand up and went back out there. He tackled his heart out when we needed him,” praised Charlton.
Rochdale lost out 36-14 at the hands of Blackpool on Friday night but they beat struggling Doncaster 56-24 in the opening round at Spotland on February 28.
