Maryport Christmas festival will go ahead

MARYPORT’S Christmas Festival will go ahead on Sunday.
The festival was cancelled on November 21 when gales blew a portion of the roof off The Wave Centre.
But organisers and the town council decided to hold the event anyway.
It will take place at the Settlement, High Street, from 1pm.
There have been a few changes to the original plans.
It will feature children’s entertainment, a visit from Santa with children’s gifts at 3.30pm and a fire show at 4.30pm, before a lantern procession to the town hall. The lights will be switched on at about 5pm.
At the same time, the Settlement is holding a jumble sale to raise money for flood relief.
