Five thousand enjoyed fun and sun at Maryport carnival on Saturday.
The annual carnival, which attracts faithful support from businesses, clubs and organisations, had one of its best parades yet. The Butcher’s Arms pub had Candyman, a local version of the Andrews Sisters, comprising Donna Fiddler, Mark Bethwaite and Ryan Hughes, accompanied by a large troupe of dancing girls in military uniforms.
Maryport Carnival 2008
Carnival goers were treated to some stellar performances at this year's parade. From the Rocky Horror Show to The Life of Brian, it is safe to say that Maryport's got talent in abundance.
Could this be the last Maryport carnival?
THIS year’s Maryport Carnival could be the last, as organisers say they are running out of money.
Carnival volunteers prepare for the big day
This year's carnival will be with us again on July 12th, and we are all looking forward to another spectacular event, but spare a thought for the small band of volunteers who make the event such a success every year.
